PROTEGO Stakeholder Inception Workshop in Nigeria

On 24th October 2024, the PROTEGO Stakeholder Inception Workshop was held in Nigeria, bringing together key public and private sector representatives to discuss marine litter challenges and develop collaborative solutions. Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue, exchanging insights and laying the groundwork for strategic partnerships to enhance waste management and environmental conservation efforts. This workshop set the foundation for the project’s implementation, ensuring that local expertise and policy align with PROTEGO’s mission.

Stakeholder Meetings and Site Visits

As part of its stakeholder engagement, the PROTEGO team met with prominent leaders, including HRM Oba Moorufdeen Amodu Tljani Oluwa, The Executive Chairman Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, and representatives from BASF and Circularity Africa Limited. These discussions aimed to align the initiative with existing policies and community needs. Additionally, the team conducted site visits to identified areas, mapping marine litter hotspots and understanding waste management challenges firsthand. These visits provided key insights into the environmental realities of Lagos and set the stage for targeted interventions.
