On 24 June, the PROTEGO team in Ghana launched its Marine Litter Policy Brief at an event in Accra, bringing together stakeholders from different sectors to discuss the path forward for tackling plastic pollution along Ghana's coast. The launch marks a key milestone for the project, which works to strengthen marine litter prevention in Ghana.

In November last year PROTEGO teams mapped hotspots in Ajegunle and Nsidung, Calabar. Now, in 2026 and with implementing partners, they will return to the field to roll out local pilot projects that tackle pollution at its source.
