On 25-26 November 2025, PROTEGO hosted a two‑day Accelerator Workshop in Lagos, Nigeria. The members of the PROTEGO Nigeria Accelerator Cohort could work closely with mentors to sharpen their pilot concepts, strengthen their risk management strategies, and define clear implementation targets. The workshop provided a collaborative space for teams to test assumptions, exchange insights, and consolidate the groundwork needed for a successful pilot phase.

The workshop also included field visits to the waterfronts of Ajegunle and Calabar. These visits enabled the teams to engage directly with the environmental and community contexts. By observing on‑the‑ground realities, participants ensured their pilots are not only technically sound but also tailored to local needs and conditions, increasing their potential for lasting impact.

Over the coming months, the PROTEGO team will continue to mentor and support each group as they move into implementation and begin piloting tangible solutions to prevent marine litter.
