On 29 October 2025, PROTEGO hosted its first Accelerator Workshop at La Palm Royal Beach in Accra, gathering the innovators selected through the PROTEGO Innovation Challenge in Ghana. This milestone offered the teams a collaborative environment to advance and strengthen their solution concepts, focusing on practical pathways to address the pressing challenge of marine pollution in the Gulf of Guinea. Through hands‑on working sessions and guidance from the PROTEGO team, participants had the opportunity to deepen their technical approaches and clarify their next steps toward implementation.

The workshop also created valuable space for peer learning, allowing innovators to exchange experiences, test assumptions, and align their ideas with local environmental realities. By building both technical capacity and a shared sense of purpose, the event laid a strong foundation for the months ahead, as the teams continue to develop pilots that aim to reduce marine litter and contribute to healthier coastal ecosystems in Ghana and the wider region.
